The east Jerusalem is mostly Arabic, best described as a nineteenth century neighborhood with a slow pace of life. Still the markets of the east Jerusalem are colorful and crowded. The Old City on the eastern side, enclosed by the stone walls of the sixteenth century, is the area where the major ancient sites are found. The Old City is an ethnic mixture of Jewish, Arabic, Christian, and Armenian descendants.
